Example interview questions

  • Your research investigates humour in coaching — an aspect often overlooked or even discouraged. What motivated you to explore this topic, and what was the most surprising discovery in your findings?
  • In your experience, how can humour serve as a serious tool for transformation in coaching and leadership?
  • You’ve said “coaching doesn’t always have to be serious to be effective.” What does that look like in practice, and where’s the line between being light-hearted and being flippant?
  • Tell us about a time when humour in a coaching session shifted the conversation or uncovered something more profound.
  • You describe coaching as a sort of improvisational jam session in your Relational Jam Model. Can you explain that metaphor and how it shapes your work?
  • What makes a coaching conversation genuinely ‘human’ to you — and how do you maintain that connection in your own practice?
  • In your experience, what differentiates a well-facilitated session from one that falls short? What principles steer your own facilitation approach — and what pitfalls do you steer clear of?
  • In your whitepaper entitled “Charting the Path to Product Mastery,” you identify 14 core competencies. What motivated you to develop this model, and how does it differ from traditional maturity models?
  • Agile is often regarded as a silver bullet for business success — almost a form of corporate Nirvana. Why do you think this perception exists, and why do many organisations struggle to realise the true benefits?
  • If we peeked inside your coach’s backpack, what tools or ideas would we discover there that you revisit time and again?
